Trip Overview

Lobuche Peak Climbing is a 19-day trekking and mountaineering adventure culminating on the 6,119-metre summit of Lobuche East. Situated in Nepal's Khumbu region, the peak offers a demanding progression from classic Everest trekking trails to a high-altitude climbing route requiring ropes, crampons and other mountaineering equipment.

The journey begins in Kathmandu before travelling overland to Manthali for the flight to Lukla. From Lukla, the trail descends towards Phakding and follows the Dudh Koshi Valley through Sherpa settlements and forested terrain.

The route enters Sagarmatha National Park and climbs to Namche Bazaar, the principal trading centre of the Everest region. Two nights in Namche allow time for an acclimatization hike to the Everest View Point and an opportunity to explore the town.

Rather than following the most direct trail higher, the itinerary visits Khumjung at 3,790 metres, supporting gradual altitude adaptation while adding cultural interest.

The route then continues through the Tengboche region to Pangboche, with striking views of Ama Dablam in clear weather, before entering the Imja Valley and reaching Dingboche at 4,250 metres. A second acclimatization day here includes a hike toward Nangkartshang Peak.

The trek continues to Lobuche village (~4,950 m), where an additional day is used for acclimatization, equipment checks and pre-climb training before moving to Lobuche Peak High Camp (~5,400 m).

The summit climb normally begins during the night or before dawn and may involve rocky ground, snow slopes, glacier travel and fixed-rope climbing depending on conditions. After reaching the 6,119-metre summit, the team descends toward Pheriche, where one contingency day is included for weather or scheduling flexibility.

The return trail retraces through Namche Bazaar to Lukla, followed by a flight to Manthali and an overland transfer to Kathmandu.

Hatti Hatti Treks arranges the accommodation, domestic flights, meals, permits and climbing support specified in the package. An experienced, government-licensed climbing Sherpa guide leads the climbing section, while porter service supports the trekking journey, subject to the confirmed baggage allowance.

Reaching the summit cannot be guaranteed. Mountain weather, route conditions, altitude, individual health, and operational circumstances may require changes. The climbing guide retains the authority to delay, modify or cancel the summit attempt when necessary for safety.

Common Questions

FAQs

The complete Lobuche Peak Climbing expedition lasts 19 days. This includes arrival in Kathmandu, transportation to Manthali, the Khumbu trekking approach, acclimatisation, technical training, the summit programme, return journey and final departure.

This package targets Lobuche East at 6,119 metres. The peak lies in Nepal's Khumbu region, reached via the classic Everest trekking trail through Namche Bazaar and Dingboche. Lobuche West is a separate, more technical objective and is not covered by this itinerary.

High-altitude trekking experience is strongly recommended. Participants should be comfortable using crampons, an ice axe, fixed ropes, a harness, an ascender and a descender on steep, exposed terrain.

The programme includes gradual acclimatisation through Namche Bazaar, Khumjung, Pangboche and Dingboche, a rest and pre-climb training day in Lobuche village, a move to High Camp and the final summit attempt.

Yes. An experienced, government-licensed climbing Sherpa guide is included. The guide supports technical climbing operations and makes safety decisions according to weather, route conditions, and participant readiness.

No supplementary oxygen is specifically listed as included in the standard Lobuche package. Any oxygen support required or requested should be confirmed separately before departure.

The package includes two nights at a four-star hotel in Kathmandu, one hotel night in Manthali, teahouse accommodation during the trekking approach and return journey, and tented accommodation at Lobuche Peak High Camp. Meals are provided during the Manthali, trekking and climbing sections as stated in the itinerary.

The package includes the Lobuche Peak climbing permit managed through the Nepal Mountaineering Association, the Sagarmatha National Park entry permit, the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Trek-Card/local entry permit, the TIMS Card, transportation between Kathmandu and Manthali and scheduled flights between Manthali and Lukla.

Lukla flights and climbing activities remain subject to weather, visibility, snow and ice conditions, route safety and operational decisions. The itinerary may be modified when necessary, and additional accommodation, meals, helicopter flights or transportation caused by disruption are normally not included.

No. A Lobuche Peak summit cannot be guaranteed. Weather, route hazards, acclimatisation, participant health, technical ability and operational conditions determine whether the summit attempt can continue. The expedition leader and climbing guide retain final authority over turnaround decisions and participant safety.
