Trip Overview

The 11-Day Langtang Valley Trek is a rewarding Himalayan journey through forested river valleys, mountain settlements and the dramatic alpine landscapes of the Langtang region. Located north of Kathmandu, this route offers convenient overland access and an engaging mixture of mountain scenery, local culture and moderately challenging trekking.

The journey begins in Kathmandu before following a scenic mountain road to Syabrubesi, the gateway to the Langtang Valley. From here, the trail climbs gradually alongside the river, passing through woodland and small settlements on the way to Lama Hotel. As the elevation increases, the dense forest begins to open, revealing broader views of the surrounding mountains.

The trek continues to Langtang village at 3,430 metres, an important mountain settlement providing an opportunity to experience the character of the valley and observe everyday life in a remote Himalayan community. The following day, the route leads farther into the upper valley towards Kyanjin Gompa, situated at 3,870 metres.

Kyanjin Gompa is the principal destination of the trek and an excellent base for exploring the surrounding alpine terrain. Weather and trail conditions permitting, trekkers can hike to either Kyanjin Ri at 4,770 metres or Tserko Ri at 4,980 metres. Both options offer expansive views of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lhakpa and the neighbouring peaks. The choice between the two viewpoints should be made with the guide according to fitness, acclimatization, weather and ground conditions.

After exploring the upper valley, the route retraces its path through Langtang village and Lama Hotel before returning to Syabrubesi. A road journey then brings the group back to Kathmandu, followed by a free day for sightseeing and final departure.

The Langtang Valley Trek reaches a considerable elevation but does not involve technical climbing. Trekkers should nevertheless prepare for consecutive walking days of up to seven hours, changing weather and basic teahouse facilities. Gradual pacing, hydration and careful attention to altitude symptoms remain important throughout the journey.

Hatti Hatti Treks manages the necessary permits, local transportation, accommodation, meals and trekking support described in the package. A government-licensed guide accompanies the group, while porter service helps make the daily walks more manageable, subject to the confirmed baggage allowance.
